Director, Senior Sales, New Business, Equities, MSA
Role Summary
We are looking for a senior individual to head up a new product at Markit: Markit Share Analysis. This is the latest product that has been developed as part of Markit BOAT's suite of products.
Market Share Analysis (MSA) is an analytical tool that will allow the user to run reports showing aggregated trading activity in the European Equity market.
This person would be responsible for building and driving the overall sales strategy for Markit Market Share Analysis and will have full accountability for the overall sales performance. This person must have extensive equity markets experience; the position will require significant travel throughout Europe.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Manage all aspects of Sales for the Markit Market Share Analysis (MSA) product line. The candidate would be fully accountable to deliver set revenue targets and will ensure that the business goals are achieved. The candidate will report to the Global Head of Sales and will work closely with the product development team, legal, marketing and the support team. Specifically these include:
- Overall accountability for MSA content acquisition and sales revenues
- Ongoing generation and prioritisation of lead pipeline for new business
- Ongoing management of existing partnerships to encourage new revenue streams or leads
- Maintain communication internally to ensure any cross selling opportunities or new business ideas are communicated to the relevant product area
- Work closely with the product team to ensure client feedback is integrated to the overall product strategy
- Manage existing relationships and develop new relationships with our distribution channels to ensure MSA is easily accessible to end users and has wide breath and stickiness
- Work closely with marketing to drive new business and maximise sales revenues
- Participate in sales conferences and special events that would help promote the Markit MSA product
- Proactively look for new revenue generating opportunities
Business Competencies
- Proven sales experience with an exchange and/or equity sales within an investment bank and/or buy side firm
- Has been responsible for the results or budgets valued at a minimum of USD 10 million
- Management experience
- Self starter, driven, personable, assertive and resourceful
- Languages preferred but not essential
- Experience of managing and directing a team
- Must have very strong commercial awareness and experience of negotiating at a senior level. Ability to be innovative in approach

- Must be confident in a high pressure environment and able to manage senior level meetings.
- Interested in contributing to Markit and making a strong impact on the marketplace
- High level of competency and good communication skills both written and verbal required
- Team player with an open minded attitude and willing to progress in a rapidly growing/changing environment and be open to have others contribute to the success of their efforts.
